The Industrial Revolution

Introduction
The Industrial Revolution had a significant impact on the world bringing both
negative and positive changes. Countries worldwide were experiencing an
Industrial Revolution and at the time it seemed like a great thing, but it also
brought misfortune to everybody. It made enormous social and economic changes
to society thus changing the world we live in today.
Population Growth
The Industrial Revolution led to an explosion in
population growth. People were making new things
and developing new ideas that made the world a much
healthier place to live in. The development of better
sewer systems and medical equipment meant that you
weren’t as likely to die as a child. The Industrial
Revolution also meant that people mass-produced
everyday items in factories and didn’t have to focus on
making everything themselves. This meant that people
could focus on leisure activities. The population rose a
lot after the Industrial Revolution and it is still growing
today.
The Importance of Trade Unions and Socialism
Trade Unions and Socialism were very
important to the development of the
Industrialised world. They gave workers
the ability to demand better working
conditions. The rapid growth of cities
led to poor urban planning, so the city
had no defined social rules, leaving
many workers alone and friendless.
This made people start demanding a
better quality of life. This then led to
social revolution.
