INTRODUCTION

The electrical power is almost exclusively generated, transmitted and

distributed in the form of ac because of economical consideration but for
operation of most of the electronic devices and circuits, dc supply is required.
Dry cells and batteries can be used for this purpose. No doubt, they have the
advantages of being portable and ripple free but their voltages are low, they
need frequent replacement and are expensive in comparison to conventional dc
power supplies.
HOW IT WORKS(CONTINUED)

 Voltage Step down Process (AC to DC):

The voltage would down by the transformer. The working principle of
transformer is very simple. It depends upon Faraday’s law, mutual
induction between two or more winding is responsible for
transformation action in an electric transformer.
HOW IT WORKS(CONTINUED)

 Rectification Process:
Rectification process will be accomplished by using a diode. A diode is an
electrical component that conducts current in one direction and blocks current
from flowing in the other direction.
HOW IT WORKS (CONTINUED)

 Filtering Process
For filtering our output current we may use a capacitor. A capacitor is
commonly used for filtering and store charge in it.
HOW IT WORKS (CONTINUED):

 Load (LED):
As a load we used LED light for our experiment.
 Resistor:
It is an electrical component that reduce the electric current.

This is the circuit diagram on which the project would work.
SIMULATION COMPONENTS

To Make DC Power Supply Using Proteus the components are:

• 7812
• The components used for this project are listed here.
• AC voltage source, it denoted as VSINE.
• Transformer it will step down the voltage provided by the AC input supply.
• The capacitor of rating 220uf
• The resistance of one kilo-ohm
• Ground
• DC voltmeter
SIMULATION PROTEUS
•7812
There is a component we are used and it is denoted by 7812 . Basically it a voltage regulator. It is available in
integrated circuit packaging. The name of this module , we can observe that it will convert 220 input AC
supply into 12 volts DC supply.

•DC Power Supply

To construct dc supply in the proteus select all components and then click on the ‘P’ button and then type name of the corresponding
component and select it.
SIMULATION PROTEUS (CONTINUED)
Now set value for AC source 220 volts and frequency 50 hertz you can see in
below figure:

After that set values of transformer connected with AC source

SIMULATION PROTEUS (CONTINUED)

Now connect the bridge circuit with the transformer secondary winding that
will rectify AC output of the transformer into DC after that connect the
capacitor of 220uF with the bridge circuit.
SIMULATION PROTEUS (CONTINUED)
Now connect the voltage regulator 7812 with the circuit that will convert the
output of rectifier into 12 volts. Also, connect the red led and one kilo ohm
resistance with the voltage regulator as output.
After that connect DC voltmeter across the led to see the dc output voltage that
will be 12 volts.
CONCLUSION

The power supply that has been designed provides a good alternative to a more
expensive power supply. It has few components, covers a small area, and is
very simple in design.
