ABSTRACT
EXPRESSIONISM
Abstract Expressionism grew up in
New York in the 1940s and 1950s. It
was somehow meant to encompass not
only the work of painters who filled
their canvases with fields of color and
abstract forms, but also those who
attacked their canvases with a vigorous
gestural expressionism.

ACTION PAINTING
It is a highly-charged, impulsive style of
abstract gestural painting during which
paint is energetically splashed, spilt or
dribbled onto a canvas, usually placed
face-up on the floor.
COLORFIELD PAINTING
This abstract art was characterized by
large fields of flat, solid color, which
enveloped the spectator when seen at
close quarters.
