Traffic Awareness

 It is necessary for everyone to be aware of traffic signs and road rules.

 The safety of those around you and awareness of road rules can lower chances of
accidents.

 Traffic signs can give you important information that can ensure your safety.

 In India, traffic signs are broadly split into three categories: mandatory signs,
cautionary signs and informative signs.
Mandatory Traffic Signs
 Mandatory traffic signs ensure free movement of traffic on the roads and make
motorists and pedestrians mindful of rules, regulations, and prohibitions while
using the roads. Violation of mandatory traffic rules is an offence under the law.
Traffic signs like ‘One Way’, ‘No Entry’, and ‘Overtaking Prohibited’ are some
of the examples of mandatory traffic rules.
Cautionary Traffic Signs
 The cautionary traffic signs warn road users in advance about potential hazards
and dangers on the roads. It helps drivers to be mentally prepared for any
difficulties and bottlenecks while moving forward. ‘Steep Ascent’, ‘School
Ahead’, ‘Narrow Road’, and ‘⅝ Dip’ are some of the examples of cautionary
traffic signs
Informatory Signs
 Infirmary traffic signs help road users with information about the directions,
distance, destinations, alternative routes, and important locations such as
schools, hospitals, public toilets, and more. Some of the examples are ‘Right
Hand Curve’, ‘Pedestrian Crossing’, ‘Cattle’, and more
Traffic Light Rules in India

Red Light :
 A red light means that you must come to
a complete stop.
 Never run a red traffic light, it’s very
dangerous and also illegal.
Yellow Light:
 A yellow light indicates that the green
light is about to end.
 Treat a yellow light as the beginning of a
red light, as opposed to the end of a
green light.
Green Light:
 A Green signal at the intersection means
to drive ahead.
 When a green traffic signal is displayed,
oncoming traffic has been stopped and it
is safe to drive forward.
