FUNCTIONS OF DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE
Regulation of Immigration
The DOJ provides immigration and naturalization regulatory services and implements the
laws governing citizenship and the admission and stay of aliens through the Bureau of
Immigration (BI). Also, under Administrative Order No. 142 dated August 23, 1994, the
Secretary or his duly-authorized representative is authorized to act on immigration matters,
including waiver of visas and admission of aliens, except deportation matters.
International Cooperation
The DOJ is the central authority of the Republic of the Philippines relative to extradition
and mutual legal assistance treaties (MLAT) on criminal matters and is involved in several
aspects of international cooperation such as the drafting and implementation of legislation
and agreements as well as the negotiation of extradition and MLAT.

Deprived of Liberty (PDL).
FUNCTIONS OF THE BJMP
In line with it's mission, the Jail Bureau endeavors to perform the following functions:
Formulate policies and guidelines in the administration of all district, city, and
municipal jails nationwide;
Implement strong security measures for the control of PDL;
Provide for the basic needs of PDL;
Conduct activities for the development of PDL;
Improve jail facilities; and,
Promote the general welfare and development of personnel.

VISION
The National Capital Region Police envisions itself by 2030, As an eminently

interactive community, safe from crimes and disorder, so that the families, citizens, and
visitors are living, working, and doing business in a secured Metropolitan environment
MISSION
The NCRPO, in its assigned jurisdiction (Metro Manila), shall enforce the law, prevent
and control crimes, maintain peace and order, and ensure public safety and internal
security with the active support of the community.
FUNCTIONS
Maintains peace and order and take all necessary step to ensure public safety.
Promote a more pro-active community in crime prevention and cooperation with the media for
factual accounts of crime incidents and perceptions of the police.
Maximize prevention of crimes through continuing police visibility, investigate crime and effect
the arrest of criminal offenders and assist in their prosecution.
Neutralize of organized crime groups, especially kidnappers, terrorist, bank robbers and
carnappers.

2002 mandates the DDB to be the policy-
making and strategy-formulating body on
drug prevention and control.
It shall develop and adopt a comprehensive,
integrated, unified and balanced national
drug abuse prevention and control strategy.

MISSION
The Dangerous Drugs Board is committed to stamping out
the illicit supply of and demand for dangerous drugs and
precursor chemicals, and to promote regional and
international cooperation in drug abuse prevention and
control.
FUNCTIONS
Promulgate such rules and regulations as may be necessary to carry out the purposes of
this Act, including the manner of safekeeping, disposition, burning or condemnation of
any dangerous drug and/or controlled precursor and essential chemical under its charge
and custody, and prescribe administrative remedies or sanctions for the violations of such
rules and regulations;
Conduct policy studies, program monitoring and evaluations and other researches on
drug prevention, control and enforcement;
FUNCTIONS
Initiate, conduct and support scientific, clinical, social, psychological, physical and
biological researches on dangerous drugs and dangerous drugs prevention and control
measures;
Develop an educational program and information drive on the hazards and prevention of
illegal use of any dangerous drug and/or controlled precursor and essential chemical based
on factual data, and disseminate the same to the general public, for which purpose the Board
shall endeavor to make the general public aware of the hazards of any dangerous drug and/or
controlled precursor and essential chemical by providing among others, literature, films,
displays or advertisements and by coordinating with all institutions of learning as well as
with all national and local enforcement agencies in planning and conducting its educational
campaign programs to be implemented by the appropriate government agencies;
FUNCTIONS
Aonduct continuing seminars for, and consultations with, and provide information materials to
judges and prosecutors in coordination with the Office of the Court Administrator, in the case of
judges, and the Department of Justice, in the case of prosecutors, which aim to provide them
with the current developments and programs of the Board pertinent to its campaign against
dangerous drugs and its scientific researches on dangerous drugs, its prevention and control
measures;
Design special trainings in order to provide law enforcement officers, members of the judiciary,
and prosecutors, school authorities and personnel of centers with knowledge and know-how in
dangerous drugs and/or controlled precursors and essential chemicals control in coordination
with the Supreme Court to meet the objectives of the national drug control programs;
