Compliance with road safety signs is important in the reduction of
motorcycle accidents .
- This study focuses on the knowledge and compliance of multicab
drivers on traffic rules and regulations in Surigao City, encouraging the
Land Transportation Office to enforce and improve traffic educational
measures to reduce the unending and retentively problems on a traffic
way. The study seeks to answer questions such as age, sex, civil status,
years of driving, knowledge on rules and regulations, pavement
markings, signs/signals and islands, and whether there is a significant
relationship between level of knowledge and extent of compliance.
RESEARCH LOCALE

- What is the traffic educational measures

of multicab drivers in rules and regulations
in driving?
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The study was conducted to determine the knowledge and compliance of Multicab Drivers on Traffic Rules and
Regulations in Surigao City. Specifically, it seeks to answers the following:
• What is the profile of participants in terms of:
– Age;
– Sex;
– Civil Status;
– Years of driving?
• What is the knowledge of multicab drivers on traffic rules and regulations in Surigao City?
– Knowledge on rules and regulations;
– Knowledge pavement markings;
– Knowledge on signs/signals and islands?
• What is the compliance of Multicab drivers with traffic rules and regulations?
– Compliance on rules and regulations;
– Compliance pavement markings;
– Compliance on signs/signals and islands?
• Is there a significant difference between the level of Knowledge and extent of Compliance of Multicab Drivers on
Traffic Rules and Regulations in Surigao City, when grouped according to their profile?
• Is there a significant relationship between levels of Knowledge and extent of Compliance of Multicab drivers on
Traffic Rules and Regulations in Surigao City when grouped according to their profile variables?
METHOD/RESEARCH DESIGN
• This study used the quantitative and correlation research design since it
measures the level of knowledge and extent of compliance of multicab
drivers on traffic rules and regulation in Surigao City and determines the
relationship between multicab drivers’ level of knowledge and extent of
compliance on traffic rules and regulations in Surigao City.
• According to Kendra Cherry (2022), correlational study is a type of
research design that looks at the relationships between two or more
variables. Correlational studies are non-experimental, which means that
the experimenter does not manipulate or control any of the variables. A
correlation refers to a relationship between two variables.
PARTICIPANTS

-The researchers utilized the sampling

technique to determine the number of the
participants. The target population is
identified, then a sampling frame is used to
obtain a list of potential subjects.

- As disclosed by data, the p-value (< 0.05, there is a significant difference; otherwise, none) are
lessen than the critical value suggesting that there is a significant difference between the Level
of Knowledge on Traffic Signs/Signals and Islands and the Years of Driving of the multicab drivers
(sig: [0.04 < 0.05). This implies that the level of knowledge Level of Knowledge on Traffic
Signs/Signals and Islands by the multicab drivers differ on their years of driving.

between the Level of Knowledge and the Extend of Compliance of multicab drivers on traffic
rules and regulations (sig: [0.00, 0.01, 0.04 < 0.05). This implies that the level of knowledge of
the respondents towards Traffic Sign/Signals and Islands affects its extent to compliance on
traffic rules and regulations. Moreover, the data revealed that the null hypothesis is rejected.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

FINDINGS
• Profile of the respondent. According to the findings, themajority of
the respondents are males, aged 51 and above, married, and 10
years and below of driving a multicab. As to the civil status, majority
are married which is 42 (72%) and 16 (28%) are singles, and as to the
years of driving, majority are 10 years or below.
• The findings indicated that the respondent are much attentive to
their knowledge in traffic rules and regulations than the compliance.
• There is a significant difference between the Level of Knowledge on
Traffic Signs/Signals and Islands and the Year of Driving of the
multicab drivers. There is a significant relationship between the Level
of Knowledge and the Compliance of multicab drivers on traffic rules
and regulations. This implies that the level of knowledge of
respondents towards the Ten Commandements, Pavement Markings,
and Traffic Sign/Signals and Islands affects its extent to compliance.
CONCLUSION
• Knowledge and Compliance of Multicab Drivers on Traffic
Rules and Regulations in Surigao City is High and Much
Compliant as most of the objectives have been met.
• The success of implementing the rules and regulations to the
multicab drivers attributed to the strategy of lessen the road
traffic injuries.
• This study helps the traffic enforcers in accordance with their
duties, accountabilities, and responsibilities of safekeeping of
roads as well as it would prevent and avoid accidents.
• Educating the multicab drivers about the rules and
regulations benefits the commuters’ safety which is utmost
importance and should be sustained and endured at all times
RECOMMENDATION
• Implementation. The Land of Transportation must provide a
program for a multicab drivers implementing its traffic rules and
regulations and associated guidelines need to be field tested.
• Multicab Drivers. The multicab drivers should continue with their
knowledge and compliance on the traffic rules and regulations as
it appeared to be very successful. Motivation of the multicab
drivers to support implementing the traffic rules and regulations
to a new member is still necessary, but those who proved to be
good supporters should be encouraged to continue.
• Traffic Enforcers.May the traffic enforcers play a vital role
in maintaining public order and safety in our road. A properly
trained traffic enforcer coupled with the best practices in the
enforcement of traffic laws will ensure a safer road for the public
