Review of Related Literature

Ipil-ipil leaves (Leucaena leucocephala) as fertilizer can provide a


great source of soil nutrients since it contains 23.3% of crude protein,
11.4% ash, 2573.8 kcal/kg metabolizable energy, 0.38% calcium, 2.9%
phosphorus and 1.6% tannins. Based on our research ipil-ipil can be a
good source of soil protein because of what it contains, its leaves are
high in protein and nitrogen which is suggesting they could be used as
an alternative fertilizer according to some scientists and botanists, Due
to nitrogen being its main source it can help fertilize plants and
vegetables grow and it is also used for rip-rapping, terracing and strip
cropping.
