WASTE PLASTIC

RECYCLING MACHINE
 Discarded plastic waste litter the country’s roads, rivers and also form huge mounds in
garbage dumps across the country.

 Humans: Due to the use of chemical additives during plastic production, plastics have
potentially harmful effects that could prove to be carcinogenic (having the potential to
cause cancer) or promote endocrine disruption (chemical that can interfere with
hormones). Some of the additives are used as phthalate plasticizers (acid used as a
plasticizer) etc.
 During the monsoon, plastic bottles at the dump accumulate water and are a breeding
ground for mosquitoes. Besides the stench, the site poses a major health hazard for the
area’s residents, exposing them to the mosquito-borne diseases.

 Land:-Chlorinated plastic can release harmful chemicals into the surrounding soil, which
can then seep into groundwater and also the ecosystem. This can cause serious harm to
the species that drink the water.

 Oceans:- Nearly 2,69,000 tonnes of plastic comprising an estimated 5.25 trillion plastic
particles are floating in the world’s oceans, including the Bay of Bengal. This estimate
does not take into account the amount of plastic waste found in the shorelines, on the
seabed, suspended in the water column and that consumed by marine organisms.

 Many a times, the solid waste has been put on fire by the municipal agency, polluting the
air. It can also be fatal for the stray animals, mainly cows and dogs that end up mistake.

 On an average, about 10000 people visit Shani Shingnapur daily. The number is high on
Saturdays and weekends, especially Saturday which is considered auspicious for visiting
Shani Shingnapur. It is around 25000 people during these days. The important festivals that
attract large crowd to Shani Shingnapur are Shani Amavasya (New moon day falling on a
Saturday), Shani Jayanti (Birth date of Lord Saturn, usually falls in the month of July) and
Shani Palat (Saturn moving from one zodiac sign to another, once in two and half years).
There are normally two Shani Amavasya in a year but the figure may vary according to the
Hindu calendar. On all these days around 2 lakh people visit the place.

 Recycling reduces the need for extracting (mining, quarrying and logging), refining and
processing raw materials all of which create substantial air and water pollution.
As recycling saves energy it also reduces greenhouse gas emissions, which helps to tackle
climate change.

 Recycling plastic waste and making different products from it, is a great option, For this, we
are introducing you to becoming a
PLASTIC RECYCLING MACHINE.

PWMU LAYOUT

 Plastic waste is first cleaned

with a dust remover (jatakia)
machine. It is then cut into small
pieces using a grinder/
agglomerator. During grinding
also, separated dust is removed
from the regrind with the help
of dust remover.

 Plastic dust remover is very

useful to remove mud and dust
from the municipal plastic waste
before grinding for recycling
process.

 Clean plastic material passes to

shredder machine

COLLECTION

 Grampanchayat Waste (mulch films,

feed bags, fertilizer bags, and in
temporary tarpaulin-like uses such
as covers for hay, silage, Wires and
Cables etc.)

 The MSW collected plastics waste is

mixed one with major components
of polyethylene, polypropylene,
polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride,
polyethylene terephthalate etc.

 Plastic waste in the village is

collected daily by the
Grampanchayat/ trust Ghantagadi.

VARAD INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES

SEGREGATION

 Sorting, the first step in recycling

plastic waste after collection,
separates, cleans and prepares
materials intended for recycling.

 In many cases, and for a large number

of materials, after the material has
been checked for conformity, this
stage allows an initial waste sorting
operation to be carried out, thus
facilitating future automatic
processing.

 The system sorts plastic waste

materials moving on a conveyor into
five types of plastics Poly-ethylene-
teraphthalate (PET), poly-propylene
(PP), poly-vinyl-chloride (PVC), poly-
styrene (PS) and poly-ethylene (PE).

VARAD INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES

DUST CLEANER

 This is mainly use to remove

the dust and other inert
material from the waste
plastic.

 It cleans the waste materials

and collects the dust & other
inert material at the bottom
of mesh.

 This dust cleaner suitable

for all types of mix or
segregated plastic.

 Clean plastic material

passes to shredder machine

VARAD INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES

SHREDDING

 It is very useful for converting

waste plastic into reusable raw
materials for manufacturing
other plastic products,

 It is maintenance free, rubbest

& easy to operate.

 Shredding is also efficient

waste disposal method & it
reduces the cost of recycling
products.

 The process of plastic recycling

starts with the shredding of
waste plastic material
using shredders.

VARAD INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES

AGGLOMERATOR

 Agglomerator helps to
maintain quality standards
of recycled plastic such as
bulk density particles size
ash content or residential
moisture.

 A frequent prerequisite for

further processing of mix
plastic into semi-finished
products.

 This machine is used for to

transform loose plastic
material into chip/ granules
suitable to feed into the
Hooper of an extruder.

VARAD INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES

PLASTIC RECYCLING (EXTRUDER)

 Material process down to transition

melting continuous as the solid
pressed & shared against the barrel
forming in a melt form in a specific
temperature.

 Extruders are used to produce long

continuous products such as
tubing, tire treads, and wire
coverings. They are also used to
produce various profiles that can
later be cut to length. Multi-roll
calendars are used to make wide
sheeting.

 Material after processing directly

feed into a dia / hydraulic press to
make a specific products.

MONITORING OF SWM
Collection and analysis of data related to solid waste management is
necessary to assess the current situation and propose adequate measures
to improve service delivery.

To this end, we have developed a computerized system called NSFT, which

will help in the collection, transportation, processing or recycling of waste
under village solid waste management and complete monitoring of the staff
concerned.
