 Metallic compound.
 Metallic bond.
 Examples of metallic compounds and it’s usage.
 Conclusion.
Metallic Compound:
 Contains one or more metal elements bonded to another element.
Metallic bond:
 A type of chemical bonding that arises from the electrostatic attractive force
between conduction electrons and positively charged metal ions.

Example of metallic
compounds
Some common metallic compounds:
 AgNO3 - Silver nitrate is a metallic compound.
 CaCl2 - Calcium chloride is a metallic compound.
 CaCO3 – Calcium Carbonate is a metallic compound.
 NaCl – Sodium Chloride is a metallic compound.

Alloys:
 An admixture of metals.

Brass: (Copper + Zinc) Bronze: (Copper + Tin) Stainless Steel: (Iron + Chromium) Amalgam: (Mercury + Silver)
Daily use of metallic
compounds
Usage of Silver nitrate (AgNO3):
 Utilized in photographic film, indelible ink, and hair
dyeing.
 Producing silver mirrors, etching ivory, and as a
catalyst in preparing ethylene oxide.
 Used as an anti-infective, an anti-septic, and its dilute solution is an eye lotion.

Usage of Calcium chloride (CaCl2):
 Used in deicing of roads, dust control, imparting stability to roads and buildings,
and to boost traction in tractor tires.
 Used in adhesives, to lower gel temperatures, and as a calcium source in liquid
feed supplements for the dairy cattle’s.

Usage of Calcium carbonate (CaCO3):
 Used to produce cement, mortars, plasters, refractories, and glass as building materials.
 Used in glass as a stabilizer, and modifies the viscosity and increases the durability of the
glass.
 Used in textiles, papers, paints, plastics, adhesives, sealants, and cosmetics.

Usage of Sodium chloride (NaCl):
 Hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, and metallic sodium are made
with the help of sodium chloride.
 Dyeing and printing fabrics, glazing pottery, in making soap, and for hide curing.

Daily Use of Alloys:
Usage Stainless steel:
 Used in domestic equipment, motor vehicles, and architecture, to chemical equipment, energy
generation, marine technology, and environmental protection.

Utensils Car Chassis Marine Technology

Usage of brass:
 Used in locks, hinges, gears, bearings, ammunition casings, zippers, plumbing, hose couplings,
valves, and electrical plugs and sockets.
 Widely used in musical instruments.
 Also used in making costume jewelry, fashion jewelry, and other imitation jewelry.

Usage of Bronze:
 It is suitable for producing bushings, bearings, pump impellers, piston rings, valve components,
gears, etc;
 Used to make status and various types of jewelry.

Usage of amalgams:
 Amalgams are important in dentistry.
 Gold-mercury amalgam is used to extract gold from ore.
 Works as a reducing agent in the Jones redactor.
