ABOUT TIME

The greeting Good Morning is approximately said
between the time after midnight and before noon (so it is
not exactly the same as the Indonesian greeting Selamat
pagi, which is said between sunrise and 10:00 or 11:00
a.m.)
Similarly, the greeting Good afternoon is
appropriately said between noon and 6:00 p.m. (in
contrast to Selamat siang which starts from about 11:00
a.m. to about 3:00 p.m.).
The greeting Good evening is appropriately said
between 6:00 p.m. and midnight (thus covers the range
of Selamat petang and Selamat malam), whereas
Good night is actually a leave-taking (similar to Good
bye) spoken at night (Indonesian, Selamat tidur or
