 SAINT POPE JOHN PAUL II – was born in
 Wadowice, Poland. He was elected to the

Papacy on Oct. 16, 1978 (264th Pope) and


was considered a great pope during his

lifetime. He maintains that the human


person is the one who exists and acts (conscious acting, has a
will, has self-determination). According to him action reveals the
nature of the human agent. Participation explains the essence of
the human person. Through participation the person is able to
fulfil one’s self.

C. ON THE RIGHTS OF WOMEN
 MARY WOLLSTONECRAFT – in Vindication on the Rights of
Women (1782). She believes that women must be united to
men in wisdom and rationality. Society should allow women
to attain equal rights to philosophy and education given to
men.
 The Confucian JEN – is similar with Christian love. This deals
with relationship with others w/c can be rooted from love of
one’s parents, brothers, and sisters. It instructs to love others
as we do ourselves.
 In Hinduism, the Vedantist observes the 3 stages to commune
with God.
1. Faith – the seeker simply accepts the laws of nature as
expression of divine existence.
2. Reason – the seeker attempts to understand these laws by
rational and logical process.
3. Experience – the seeker overcomes the worldly
attachments.
 For Ayn Rand each person is responsible for his/her
individuality. “ we are responsible for more than what
becomes of us; we are also responsible for what becomes of
others”.
