o Understand the importance white blood cell and its function.

o Know the names of the types of WBC.

o Understand the importance of platelets and its functions.


LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
o Understand WBC and its function

WHITE BLOOD CELLS…


 Also known as WBC or leucocytes.
 Always have nucleus and are colorless.
 WBC help to defend us against pathogens.
 Some kind of WBC(not all) are larger than RBC,
 Some kind of WBC can change their shape and
push their cytoplasm out to make ‘fingers’ that can
capture pathogen. The WBC then produces
chemicals that kill and digest pathogen.
 Other types of white blood cell produce chemicals
called antibodies that kill pathogens.
