Week Objectives

Weekly Objective:
 The learner will be introduced to letters Gg and Kk.
 TLW identify beginning, middle and ending sounds.
 Students will learn the sight words big, good, his.
 Student will identify the author and illustrator roles.
• They will identify story elements such as characters,
setting and events.
• Student will blend and segment syllables.
• Identify central idea and key details.
• TLW Recognize alliteration.
Phonological Awareness

Identify Initial Sounds: Guess What?

•Tell children that they will be playing a guessing


game. Listen: cat, dog. Cat begins with /k/ and dog
begins with /d/. Have children use THUMBS UP OR
DOWN to show whether or not the words begin with
the same sound.
•Each time you answer correctly, I will draw a clue.
Draw the first line of a kite. After you get all of the
clues, you can guess the picture.

Teach the Sound-Spelling


Use the LETTER SOUNDS routine below to teach
consonant k.

Introduce the consonant sound.
Display Alphafriend Card: Kayla Kangaroo. The sound
/k/ is the sound at the beginning of the word
kangaroo. The letter k makes the sound /k/. What
sound? (/k/) What letter? (k)
Play the Alphafriend Video. Have children raise their
arms when they hear the name Kayla Kangaroo.
