The Positive field

Learning to create positive field is an

important part of Creativity and
Innovation. The positive field is
created by certain tools and
behaviours: Verbal, tonal and non
verbal.
The positive field is created by a common prayer
or “mantra”, by a mental process which draws a
magic circle around all those who are
participating. A common exercise, a common
company song, common goals, all enhance the
power of the positive field. A handshake, a
friendly look, an encouraging word are key
factors.
Sringara or Love
Bring Sringara into your life

Let love come in: Invite those who love you and
those whom you love to enter your life. Reach out
for an extended hand and welcome love into your
life.
Give Love space and time: Love needs both
quality time and a quantity of time. One cannot
replace the other. Leisurely spaces allow love to
take root. It flourishes in idleness, in long
companiable silences, in tears and in stumbling.
Sharing is its life breath.
Celebrate Love: Celebrate anniversaries and
birthdays. Be generous with affirmations. Create
occasions to show verbally tonally and non-verbally
that you care.

The Negative Field

If some people in the group feel excluded

they cannot contribute good ideas. They may
even change the nature of a positive field by
their unhappiness. Just as a drop of cyanide
can poison a clear pool of water, so too the
unhappiness of a single person can poison
the field in a home or a company. They give
off toxic waves of hostility, and they can turn
a flourishing field into a desert.
A negative field is toxic with distrust. In the
negative field, individuals are afraid to think
differently; new ideas wither before they are
formulated. In such a field, only the most
obvious ideas, which appear practical and
sensible alone, will be shared. All, but the most
obvious ideas will be rejected. These ideas are
obviously useless and will be rejected because
they are probably centuries old. All, but the
most obvious ideas will be rejected.
A child who is never praised or complimented
turns into an insecure adult with little self
esteem and he does not want to say or do
anything that others will laugh at. So afraid
does he become of hostility that continued
exposure to this type of negative field can
cause many health problems including those
related to the heart.

It is necessary at all times to make sure that the

creation of a negative field is carefully avoided.
Bhayankara or Fear
Overcome fear

Believe in yourself and in your actions.

Confront your fear. Think of all the
possible consequences of your fear
coming true.
Rationalise the situation and you will find
that things are never as bad as they
seem.

another experience to learn from.

Snowballing

Every idea can be developed and grown by

snowballing. Ideas are added to the original
thought. The use of check-lists can be
useful. Each idea can be developed by 4 or
5 groups and then put together for the main
group.
Springboard
Springboards are used to prevent ideas from being
judged. They are very useful when new ideas are
nurtured in an atmosphere of suspended
judgment. Example: Springboard would involve
requesting people to prepare a WISH LIST to solve
a specific problem. You tell individuals if you can
have all the resources, materials and people you
need, how would you solve this problem? This
would enable people to ignore obstacles and
protect ideas from criticism. Whenever an idea is
given, all individuals in the group must first say
what they like about the idea. They would then ask
the owner of the idea, how to solve some of the
problems involved.
Excursion

The excursion helps bring fresh ideas from

different fields into the group. The group is
sent outside may be to a supermarket and
asked to focus on something which interests
or intrigues them. They may go to the
supermarket and pick up objects and ideas.
6M

6M, the 6M model includes the following:

Men
Materials
Machines
Methods
Markets
Money
Role Play

The participants are asked to step

into the shoes of a character. The
usual list of characters are – hero,
heroine, villain, director, comedian
and character actor. The subject will
be the problem chosen and the group
enacts actual situations for a better
understanding of the problem.
Ping Pong

Foremost among the tools is Ping Pong.
In ping pong, every idea is kept in the air
as long as possible. It is helped to grow
by a constant endeavour to separate what
is positive and develop it. No Heat
