Characteristic of Ancient Art
People who lived thousand and thousand of years ago
used pictures instead of words to tell a story or send a
message. The first people to draw had no written
language . These cavemen drew pictures on the walls of
their caves to tell stories. They draw how they hunted
bison, rhinoceros, and the charging mammoth.
They used pieces of red and yellow ochre for chalk. They
use sharp flint points to cut lines into the rock wall.

The term classical may be applied to all art and music
from a specific period in the history (1750-1820). Ion the
strictest sense, this is the term used to characterize, the
art, literature and aesthetics created by the ancient
Greeks and Romans. In the Visual arts, a sense of control
in the handling of themes and sense of order and
proportion of forms are observed.
