appropriate;
• Generation chooses to teach the next generation
including what knowledge is valued, skills,
ethics, languages and worldviews;
• It requires intercultural understanding if people
are to live together peacefully,

Diversity is a group of people who are


different in the same place.

Diversity means having a range of
people with various racial, ethnic,
socioeconomic, and cultural
backgrounds and various lifestyles,
experience, and interests.
WHAT IS DIVERSITY?
Having a variety of individuals and
points of view represented in the
GROUP.
Cultural Sensitivity
Implies that diversity work is
just about people being nice to
one another.
Cultural Competency
Being aware that cultural differences
and similarities between people exist
without assigning them a value –
positive or negative, better or worse,
right or wrong.
Cultural Competency
A professional skill that enables
staff and organizations to serve
their clients effectively and
competently.
Collaborative Reflective Activity
Students will conduct informal INTERVIEW with
5 to 7 known/ relative/acquaintance/referred
ALUMNI of their Course / PROFESSION who
work with multicultural populations, workplace,
clients.

Write 500 words analyses and 500 words
Synthesis/insights/realizations of the conducted
interview. Each group member shall submit the
same individually. Students ALSO submit
gathered data files.
• Preliminaries: (i.e. years in the profession, positions held,
multicultural exposure (countries/ regions), challenges, strengths,
adaptation)
• How well prepared were they during college years and what have
they done post-graduation to improve their cultural competency?
• How can graduates increase or improve their cultural competency
once they have completed their professional degrees?
• What suggestions on cultural diversity do they have for graduates
entering today’s profession?
