1) The document discusses six research articles about proportional reasoning. The articles describe levels of proportional reasoning, how concepts of ratio and proportion are developed in Asia, and solution strategies used for proportional reasoning problems.
2) It also discusses two books about teaching fractions, ratios, and proportional reasoning. One book by Lamon provides practical examples and activities. The other is an NCTM yearbook with chapters discussing proportional relationships and reasoning.

2-)The authors describe and give examples of four levels of
proportional reasoning using examples from the classroom. A good article on a difficult topic.

Asia perspective. Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School, 9(7), 362-367. 4-)These well-known researchers discuss the way that the concepts of ratio and proportion are developed in Asian countries. They share a sequence of activities adapted from textbooks used in China, Taiwan, and Japan. The series of examples will certainly be useful in your classroom. 5-)Duatepe,A.,akkuş Çıkla,O., Kayhan M.(2005). Teaching fractions and ratios for understanding: Essential content knowledge and instructional strategies for teachers. Mahwah, NJ: Lawrence Erlbaum. Lamon is one of the most prolific researchers and writes on the subject of fractions, ratios, and proportional reasoning. This book is full of specific practical examples of activities and is freely illustrated with children’s work. Many of the ideas found in this chapter are adapted from this book and other works by Lamon. 2-) Litwiller, B.(Ed.) (2002). Making sense of fractions, ratios, and proportions: 2002 yearbook. Reston, VA: NCTM. Eleven of the 26 short chapters in this NCTM yearbook discuss explicitly the issue of multiplicative relationships and/or proportional reasoning. The remaining chapters are on various aspects of fraction concepts and fraction computation, many illustrating the connection with proportional thinking. Accompanying the yearbook is a book of Classroom Activities complete with Blackline Masters.
