What is communication?

The root of the word


“communication” in Latin
is communicare, which means
“to share, or to make common”
What is the difference between communication and
communications?

COMMUNICATION COMMUNICATIONS
● a process of sharing ideas and opinions about issues, people, events
and places between or among persons through various channels with
the intent to gain common understanding. It refers to the technical means of communication or
the channels which messages are conveyed.
● directed & purposeful exchange of information & messages between  Communications includes the media, the channels
people or groups of people by speaking, writing, gestures, & signs through which we communicate.

 It is an interactive process that allows sharing of meanings about


texts, images and people’s actions and behavior.
 The process involving people using these technologies is called
communication.
