A trained person who assists women
during childbirth. Many midwives
also provide pre-natal care for
women and their partners, and care
for mother and newborn babies
after the birth

screening)
 identify high-risk pregnancies
 monitor women and support them
during labour and the birthing process
 teach new and expectant mothers how
to feed, care for and bathe their babies
