Natural disasters in Costa Rica
Natural disasters are violent, sudden and destructive changes in the environment, whose
cause is not human activity, but natural phenomena, that is, that a natural disaster is part of a
process of nature, but that when having contact with humanity, causes very serious
problems.

Costa Rica's history has been marked by tragic disasters for as long as we can remember.
Located on two very active tectonic plates, it is highly exposed to natural disasters such as
earthquakes in a range of 42.6%.

It has the fifth position of countries with the highest risk index of natural disasters.
The most common disasters in Costa Rica are

01. Earthquakes Volcanic Eruptions

02.

03. Avalanches

with 21 fatalities. The rains were a
consequence of falling stones and mud

thus creating the avalanche.
Costa Rica is a country that has a high rate of natural
disasters for which measures were taken to:

* Shelters and safety zones in case of natural disasters.

* Relocation of homes from hazardous areas to safe areas

* Carrying out control studies in the face of catastrophic phenomena

* Avoid building houses on the slopes of the volcano.
