Key Learnings from 4th day topics

Fish culture:
 Same size of fingerlings in low density resulting better than high density.  over wintering fingerling give better result than new fingerlings stocking.  Partial harvesting and restocking is always better than complete harvesting.  Morning time is the best time for stocking.  Stocking should be considered to proper use of natural feed.  In case of polycultur, before giving supplementary feed, give duck weed and banana leaves for sharputi and grass carp first.  Supplementary feed should be used in pond for two times at same place and same time everyday.

 Feed should be used 3-5% of body weight. 3 If FCR of supplementary feed 1.5-2 is 1.5economical for fish culture.  Over feeding is always dangerous than under feeding.  Before using, muster oil cake have to soak over night.  SIS have to keep in pond.  Manuring in the pond should be done within 15 days.  TSP must be soaked 12hrs before use.  In case of shrimp/shing/magur and carp polyculture supplementary should be applied at evening and morning.  All management should be stopped in cloudy condition.  All species as well as all size should be included during sampling.  Fingerlings should be stocked in pond in counting method.  Oxygen deficiency, phytoplankton and zoo plankton glum,turbidity,Argulosis are the major problems in fish culture  Fish disease treatment means water body treatment.

Potato Production Technologies

 Potato is the third major crop after rice and wheat in Bangladesh.  Bangladesh is 3rd in Asia and 14th position in the world in potato production.  Major cultivated varieties are Diamant, Cardinal, Granola, Asterix, Patrones etc.  Patrones and Multa are early variety.  Whole tuber should be planted for seed potato  Large tuber can be cut into pieces. Each cut tuber should contain at least two eyes.  Earthing up should be done when the plants are 15 to 22 cm in height.  Haulm pulling is essential for seed potato production.  After harvest,curing is essential for long time preservation.
