DESTRUCTION OF EXPLOSIVES

 Inspect the deteriorated explosives carefully

without exposing it to heat, shock and friction.
If deterioration/ leakage is highly visible and
its consistency has broken, it is preferred to
call the manufacturer for handling / advice.
 Identify the type of explosives, it is always
recommended to destroy the explosives by
burning but one thing should be kept in mind
that slurry/water gel (water based) explosives
are normally difficult to burn.
DESTRUCTION OF EXPLOSIVES
 Find a stone free location for the burning.
The location should be far away from
inhabited areas.
 Spread the explosives on a bed of paper or
wood wool. Attempt should be made that
thickness of layer explosives should not
exceed the twice the diameter of the
explosives cartridges and if the limitation of
the area permit then one layer i.e. equal to
diameter of cartridge should be spread.
 Pour or spread some flammable material i.e
diesel, kerosene oil etc. Precautions should
be made that no impact is produced on
explosives while spreading.
DESTRUCTION OF EXPLOSIVES
 Do not try to handle the explosives when it
has been opened to fire if some explosives
remains un-burnt then wait at least for
sufficient time that the temperature of burnt
material cool down. Do not use any external
source i.e. water spraying, pouring sand to
bring down the temperature.
 Adopt full precautions that is safety of men &
material around the vicinity because slight
variation in burning condition can cause
detonation of explosives resulting big
explosion.
