Production Planning in SAP

© SAP SE
SAP ERP

 Materials – raw materials and finished goods

 Bill of materials - is a list of the raw materials, sub-assemblies,
intermediate assemblies, sub-components, parts, and the
quantities of each needed to manufacture an end product
 Routing - a description of which operations or list of activities
has to be carried out during the production and planning
process. It also tells what order or sequence the
activities/operations needs to be carried out at work centers or
machines

 Production version - SAP production version is a combination of a

bill of material and routing. For a given product, there can be different
components that can be used to manufacture. When there are such
substitute components, it is possible to create an alternative BOM in SAP.
There can be multiple alternative BOMs for a given product. Like
multiple BOMs, there can be different methods or tasks which can be
used to manufacture a product. These different methods or sequences of
activities can be maintained as alternative routings or routing groups.
 Production Order
 Consumption of raw materials required for production
 Receipt of manufactured finished products
 Calculation of production cost
