INTRODUCTION
In recent years, wind has been playing a more
important role in the electric power supply of many
countries. The cost of manufacturing and installing
wind turbines has decreased and the price is still
falling. Wind turbines produce a beautiful, natural
effect on landscapes which some people find more
.desirable than traditional sources of electricity
The desire to lessen the effects of climate change
have also led to a push for alternate sources of
.energy such as wind power plants
WORKING PRINCIPLE OF
WIND POWER PLANT
the wind turns the blades, which
causes the axis to rotate, which is
attached to a generator, which
produces DC electricity, which is
then converted to AC via an inverter
that can then be passed on to
power your home or anything else .
CAPITAL In the United States, to install a 2.4-MW
COST OF land-based turbine (the average turbine
size installed in the United States in 2018),
WIND the total capital expenditures required is
POWER on average, approximately $3,528,000 or
.$1470/kW
PLANT
AVERAGE The mean turbine capacity in the U.S. Wind
Turbine Database (USWTDB) is 1.67
NET POWER megawatts (MW). At a 33% capacity factor,
OUTPUT OD that average turbine would generate over
402,000 kWh per month - enough for over 460
THE PLANT .average U.S. homes
AVERAGE An average onshore wind turbine with a
PRODUCTION capacity of 2.5–3 MW can produce more than
OF 6 million kWh in a year – enough to supply
.1,500 average households with electricity

EXAMPLE OF WIND
POWER PLANT

For example, the largest wind farm in the

world, Gansu Wind Farm in China had a
capacity of over 6,000 MW by 2012, with a goal
of 20,000 MW in futuer

As of December 2020, the 1218 MW Hornsea

Wind Farm in the UK is the largest off shore

DISADVANTAGES
Wind energy causes noise and
OF WIND POWER . visual pollution
PLAN
Wind turbines have some -
negative impacts on their
. surrounding environment
• Wind power is a clean source of energy: wind
power production is clean unlike using coal or
oil, wind power generation does not pollute

PLANS OF the air or require any destructive chemicals, as

a result wind power reduces our dependence
on fossil fuels. Therefore, we must invest any
SAUDI energy that does not harm the environment
and depend on it.
ARABIA TO
INSTALL • Wind energy in Saudi Arabia, producing 10
gigawatts of electrical energy on wind energy
THIS PLANT in 2025, adding about 56.2 billion riyals (more
than 15 billion US dollars) to the country's
gross domestic product. And to create more
than 7,500 new jobs. The Kingdom aims to
produce 16 gigawatts of wind in 2030.
Dumat Al-Jandal Wind Farm is the first wind
farm in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, located
in Dumat Al-Jandal in the Al-Jawf region,
located in northwestern Saudi Arabia, about
1046 km north of the capital Riyadh. The
cost of the Dumat Al-Jandal wind power
Dumat Al- plant is $500 million. After the
establishment of the station is completed,
Jandal wind the station will be able to generate
sustainable energy sufficient for about
farm 70,000 housing units. The Dumat Al-Jandal
project was chosen as the first wind energy
project in Saudi Arabia, after studies showed
a strong mix of wind capacities at the
project site, so that the expected average
production of the Dumat Al-Jandal wind
.power plant is about 1.4 TWh
