EDUCATION IN

DIFFERENT COUNTRY
THE EDUCATION SYSTEM
IN THE UK
Primary school education begins in the UK at age 5 and continues until age 11, comprising key stages one and two
under the UK educational system.

Some primary schools are split up into Infant and Junior levels. These are usually separate schools on the same
site. The infant age range (Key Stage 1) is from age 5 to 7. The Junior age range (Key Stage 2) is from age 7 to 11.

The year groups at primary School level are:

Year R (Reception) (age 4 – 5)

Year 1 (age 5 - 6)
Year 2 (age 6 - 7) The year when SATs testing takes place for Key Stage 1
Year 3 (age 7 - 8)
Year 4 (age 8 - 9)
Year 5 (age 9 - 10)
Year 6 (age 10 - 11) The year when SATs testing takes place for Key Stage 2
THE EDUCATION SYSTEM IN
MOLDOVA
The education system in Moldova consists of preschool, primary, secondary and higher
education. The preschool education is for children up to the age of seven years. The primary
education is between grades one through four and typically involves children between the ages
of 8-12. The secondary education consists of two tracks: general and vocational. General
secondary education from grades 5-9 is called the gymnasium, and grades 10-12 is called liceul
(lyceum). The vocational track is called the professional liceul. Higher education consists of two
stages, short-term college education and university education. These institutions were
traditionally awarding Diplomas but, in the year 2000, were also using the titles of Bachelor
and Master to conform to international standards.
THE EDUCATION SYSTEM IN
USA
Formal education in the U.S. is divided into a number of distinct educational stages.
Most children enter the public education system around ages five or six. Children are
assigned into year groups known as grades.

The American school year traditionally begins at the end of August or early in
September, after a traditional summer vacation or break. Children customarily
advance together from one grade to the next as a single cohort or "class" upon
reaching the end of each school year in late May or early June.

Depending upon their circumstances, children may begin school in pre-kindergarten,

kindergarten, or first grade. Students normally attend 12 grades of study over 12
calendar years of primary/elementary and secondary education before graduating and
earning a diploma that makes them eligible for admission to higher education.
Education is mandatory until age 16 (18 in some states).
