7 KINDS OF IDEOLOGICAL CONFLICTS
1. Person vs. Person. Also called man vs. mam. It is a conflict that pits one person against another is
about as classic as a story can get. It is pretty much explanatory, with one person struggling for
victory over another.
2. Person vs. Nature. Humankind comes up against nature, battling for survival against its inexorable
and apathetic force. The hero may be force to confront nature, or the protagonist may be seeking
the conflict, trying to exert dominance over nature.
3. Person vs. Society. This follows the storyline of an individual or a group fighting (Sometimes
successfully, sometimes-not-so successfully) against injustices within their society.
4. Person vs. Technology. This focuses on a person or a group of people fighting to overcome
unemotional and unsympathetic machinery that believes it no longer requires humanity.Person vs.
Supernatural. In this type of conflict, protagonists battle against the entity that doesn’t entirely
known or comprehensible, whether it is extraterrestrial or metaphysical.
