• Some companies have trialled a four-day workweek in the UK. These companies have taken
part in pilot programs. The programs are run by the non-profit 4 Day Week Global.
They studied more than 70 companies in the UK. They found that 78% of leaders who
changed to four-day schedules say their change was good or “seamless.” Only 2% found it
challenging. Eighty-eight percent of people said that four-day schedules are working well.
Pilot studies are continuing at companies in Ireland, the UK, the US, New Zealand, Australia,
and Canada.
A survey by Gartner Inc. found that a shorter week is a good method to keep
employees engaged. Six-month pilot programs with over 180 companies are currently
happening in six other countries. Employers typically change to four-day, 32-hour schedules
with no reduction in pay.

The Emmys reward the best TV shows each year. More than 25,000 people voted for the
winners of the 2022 awards. This year, the event was quieter than usual. A British film
industry tea party was cancelled in respect of Queen Elizabeth II.
It was the first time the Emmys had been held since COVID-19 started. Awards are given to
actors, singers, and people who make the dramas.
