Low-context cultures (such as those in North America and Western Europe) depend less on
the environment of a situation to convey meaning than do high-context cultures (such as
those in Japan, China, and Arab countries).
For example: high-context cultures would pay attention to interpersonal relationships, physical
settings, social settings, nonverbals
Low context cultures would just “say what they mean to say” and believe that listeners need to
be told everything
