The Daursky

Natural Reserve
is a nature reserve in South-Eastern

Transbaikalia,

Organized on December 25, 1987 mainly for

the protection of bird nests.


The reserve consists of the steppe
lakes Barun-Torey and Zun-Torey and
several isolated lake and steppe
areas with a total area of ​
45,790
hectares.

There are 9 parts in total.

The central part of the reserve is In 2011, the Dahurian crane, which
located in the village of Nizhny is on the verge of extinction, was

Tsasuchey. chosen as the symbol and emblem of


the reserve.
In the fauna of the
reserve there are up to
4 species of fish, 3
species of amphibians, 3
reptiles, more than 315
species of birds and 52
species of mammals. More
than 100 species of
birds are listed in the
Red Books of various
ranks.
Most of the species are
typically steppe inhabitants.
Of the mammals, only in the
Forest-Steppe and Adon-Chelon
areas and in the Tsasucheisky
Bor subordinate reserve are
taiga species found
The list of mammals includes the Dahurian hedgehog, 4 species of
shrews, 6 species of bats, the Dahurian pika and 2 species of hares,
23 species of rodents, predators of the canine families, mustelids,
felines
Of the insects, Lepidoptera or
butterflies are the most well
studied; in total, 1096 species of
this group are registered in the
Daursky Reserve.
The Daurian steppe is a whole expanse of a grassy sea. Most
of the steppes have long been plowed up for agricultural
needs, and the territory of ancient Dauria still retains its
original appearance thanks to the existence of the reserve.
The Adon-Chelon tract is the youngest cluster of the reserve.
It includes three small mountain areas with a total area of ​
about 1 thousand hectares. This is not only a unique
ecosystem with rare species of plants and animals, but also
one of the most revered places in Transbaikalia by Buddhists.
The territory of the reserve "Tsasucheisky Bor". A real
forest, surrounded on all sides by steppes.
Bus route "Steppe Legends" with short walks. Passes along the
left bank of the Onon River. There are historical monuments
of the early Neolithic era.
In 1994, an Intergovernmental Agreement was signed on the
creation of the Dauria International Reserve on the basis of
the Daursky (Russia), Mongol Daguur (Mongolia) and Dalai Lake
(China) reserves.
It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site "Landscapes of Dauria",
which includes, in addition to the Russian, also the
Mongolian part of the Daurian steppe.
