 ILLUSTRATION

TWO KINDS OF PEOPLE

There are two kinds of people. One kind likes to get up early in the morning. The other kind
likes to stay in the bed.
Art Johnson is the first kind. He gets up early, brushes his teeth, shaves, takes a shower, combs
his hair, and gets dressed. He has enough time to eat a good breakfast and walk to work.
Carl Morgan, his roommate, likes to stay in bed. He does the same things Art Johnson does
when he gets up, but he does them in a hurry. He runs to work. He is usually late.
(Williard D. Sheeler, 1996)

 GETTING READY FOR A TRIP

Before my friend leaves, he goes downtown to buy some new clothes. First, he buys a new suit.
Then he buys three new shirts and a tie. He gets some new shoes, too. He does not buy any
socks and underwear. When he is downtown, he gets his plane reservations. He also wants to
know when his plane leaves. He pays for his trip. And then he comes home. When he arrives
home, he eats dinner. After dinner he packs his suitcase. At 9 o’clock he gets ready for bed. He
does not go to bed right away. Before he goes to bed, he calls me to say good-bye. He gets in
bed after that.
