NGO: Kaushalya Vikas Kendra


 Kaushalya Vikas Kendra (KViK) is a centre for skill development. Its prime
objective is to make semi-literate youth from poor economic and social
background ‘employable’ and to provide skilled manpower to the
industries of high growth. KViK is a company set up to provide vocational
training in variety of trades which are in great demand in the industry
today. KViK has been set up by experienced and successful executives of
companies who would like to give something back to the society.
 KVIK’s vision is to reach out to poor youth in the villages and provide
them skills for a sustainable livelihood at affordable costs.
 They want to alleviate poverty by providing training on soft skills for
people who cannot afford mainstream education.
 KViK also teaches English for free for reading, writing, and
communication.

 Tell people about the cause: Making sure I know what I’m raising funds for, and raise awareness
amongst others about the cause using promotion tactics such excursions and fundraisers.
 Determine your fundraising goal and the date on which you want to achieve it: This will give me and
those who wish to donate a clear idea of the total funds to be collected, and make planning your
fundraising approach easier.
 Utilize social media effectively: Make engaging content and post regularly using social media giants such
as Instagram and Meta for ideal results.
 Be consistent with promoting your fundraiser: Posting once a week will create minimal impact, but daily
Promotion will ensure people are seeing the posts. Blogs on the official website will also help with
marketing.
 Thank your donors with a personalised message: This encourages donors to donate more.

 How a marketing division works


 Learned how to present a PPT to superiors on the SWOT/SWOC of the NGO.
 Learned how to create a brochure which was distributed for marketing
purposes and to spread awareness amongst different communities.
 Learned how to create their website and blog using WordPress.
 Created their Instagram account for social media marketing purposes. Learned
how to market on social media.
 Attended an event to spread awareness about unemployment.
 Raised plenty of funds using online fundraisers, their website, and social
media.

Recommendations and Suggestions

 Created a PowerPoint Presentation suggesting them how to improve


their marketing which they approved. This was then implemented by
me through the last four weeks.
 Also considered online marketing strategies through blogs and social
media which was also implemented.
 Also recommended that they partner up with a temple or a bigger NGO
to get a better outreach and also get more donations.

Conclusion

I have gained a lot of experience working and interacting with the teaching and admin
staff of Kaushalya Vikas Kendra. There were a lot of learning aspects which I have
gained during my time in KViK. I gained a lot of knowledge about the working of a
marketing division and also gained a lot of knowledge about the operations and
organisation structure. This will help me in the future when I hope to open up my
own NGO and/or Business. I also learned how to use social media as a marketing tool
to gain more sales. This helped the NGO gain more donations and students to join
their cause. I also designed a brochure which can be handed out during different
kinds of events such as fundraisers and awareness campaigns. This gave potential
donors and potential students to gain more knowledge about the operations and
teachings of the NGO. During my first week at the NGO, I created a PPT presentation
showcasing the advantages and disadvantages the NGO might be facing due to
certain reasons using the SWOT/SWOC Analysis. This helped give a clear picture on
how the NGO can analyse and create a marketing strategy which can attract more
donors and students to join their cause.
