ROLES OF SGC
 Participates in the development of SIP.
School Improvement Plan (SIP) is a document that outlines the vision,
values, goals, targets, strategies and resources in school improvement.
It is the role of the SGC and representatives from groups of community
stakeholders to take an active part in the development of this document.
ROLES OF SGC
 Assist the school in installing the Monitoring and Evaluation System
for school performance based on the SIP and reports accomplishments to
the community and the Department.
The SGC should participate in collecting information about the
school’s performance and reports it to the Department and local
community through a self-assessment process.
ROLES OF SGC
 Generates resources to support implementation of the SIP.
While supporting the implementation of the SIP, the SGC should
also be responsible in helping and undertaking resource generation and
mobilization in support to SIP implementation.
ROLES OF SGC
 Organizes committees to support the school head and staff in the
implementation of the SIP.
Upon oath of the position, the Council has to organize and sort
committees and ensure that each committee understands their role and
tasks.
RELATIONSHIPS
 The SGC can make representation to Local Government Units and other
stakeholder groups to get the resources needed in the implementation of
SIP.
 The SGC and the school staff must exist with mutual trust and respect
and share responsibilities in the continuous improvement of learners’
performance.
 The willingness of the school head to involve parents and community
members for school tasks and in decision-making provides necessary
foundation for all family-community partnerships.

Community engagement is the process of working collaboratively with the
groups of people affiliated by the geographic proximity, special interest or
similar situations to address issues affecting the well-being of the people.
 Partnership and coalitions that help mobilize resources and influence
systems.
Strategic process with specific purpose of working.
Complex, labor-intensive.

PRINCIPLES
Section 13. The State recognizes the vital role of the youth in nation-
building and shall promote and protect their physical, moral, spiritual,
intellectual, and social well-being. It shall inculcate in the youth
patriotism and nationalism, and encourage their involvement in public and
civic affairs.
Section 14. The State recognizes the role of women in nation-building,
and shall ensure the fundamental equality before the law of men and
women.
