What is a Letter?
A Letter is a form of written
communication between two
persons / parties discuss on a
particular topic/matter, Etc.

There are two types of letter.


Formal & Informal
Informal Letter :
Informal Letters are personal letters
that are written to let
your friends or family
know about what is
going on in your life
and to convey your
regards.
Formal Letter:
A formal Letter is one written in an
orderly and conventional
language and follows a
specific official format.

Example: To HR manager,
School, collage, etc.
Parts of a Letter:
1. Heading
2. Date
3. Addressee Information
4. Salutation
5. Letter Body
6. Closing
7. Signature
Do’s of Formal Letter:
 Start with a Salutation.
 Use figures of Speech.
 Use Polite tone in letter.
 Use formal language.
 Be straight forward.
Don’ts of Formal Letter:
 Don’t use long and unnecessary
statements.
 Avoid usage of slangs.
 Avoid Grammatical errors.
 Don’t make body of letter to lengthy.
 Avoid Non standard Diction.
