• The informative text is the one that provides knowledge about an event, subject or topic.
• It is usually found in newspapers, magazines, encyclopedias or manuals.
• The main function of an informative text is to inform, to make something known.
• It presents a real event in the most objective way possible, and contains organized, clear and well-
explained ideas.
• They are characterized by describing real situations, with a simple and concise language, and a
vocabulary appropriate to the theme of the text, so that all types of readers can understand it.

• Veracity: The main characteristic of an informative text is its veracity, that is, that the facts are real and can be
verified.
• Clarity: Clarity in a text implies the use of language that is easy to understand for anyone who has access to the
information, without using vulgar language.
• Precision: It refers to the use of the most appropriate words to communicate a fact, disregarding
redundancies, ambiguities or confusing words that hinder the understanding of the text.
• Brevity: Brevity requires the use of short sentences and paragraphs, this does not mean that the comprehension,
coherence or quality of the informative text should be sacrificed.
• Density: Density refers to the richness of information in the displayed data. In an informative text, each
sentence must be there for a reason, it has to add value.
• Impersonality: This means avoiding the use of the first person (I) and instead resorting to the third
person (he, she, it), unless it is a direct quote.
