Section 22 : WORK ON OR NEAR MACHINERY IN MOTION

WORKER REQUIREMENTS

● Should be a trained adult male worker

● Should wear tight fitting clothing (supplied by occupier)
● Name should record in register
● In a every factory register shall be maintained in Form 9

WORKING CONDITIONS

● Belt is not more than 15 cm in width.

● Pulley is normally for the purpose of drive and not merely a fly wheel or balance wheel
● Belt joints is either laced or flush with belt
● Belt,including joint and the pulley rim, are in good repair
● Reasonable clearance between pulley and any fixed plant or structure
● Secure foothold, handhold should be provided for the operator
● If required ladder should be provided to operator in which it is securely fixed or lashed or is
firmly held by a second person
● Every set of screw, bolt and key on any revolving shaft, spindle, wheel or pinion and all spur,
worm and other toothed or friction gearing in motion with which the worker be liable to come
into contact should be prevented with proper fencing
EXAMPLES
● No woman or young worker shall be allowed to clean,lubricate or
adjust any part of a prime mover or of any transmission machinery
while they are in motion
● State government prohibits the cleaning,lubricating or adjusting by
any person of specified parts of machinery when those parts are in
motion
