what is Posture?
Posture is the position in which we hold our bodies while
standing, walking, sitting, and lying down.

It is the correct alignment of body parts supported by the right


amount of muscle-tension against gravity.
IMPORTANCE OF GOOD POSTURE

● Help us to stand, walk, and sit properly

● maintain proper posture

● help your bones and muscle grow properly

● make your body organs function well

● make you feel good and confident about yourself

● contributes to agood appearance


RISKS OF POOR POSTURE

● Poor Posture can lead to excessive strain on


our back muscle and may even cause them
to relax when held in certain position for
long period of time.

● There are several factors that contribute to


poor posture

heavy objects and engaging in
activity with the sudden forcefull
movement.

1. Arthritis

- Condition that causes painful, swelling,


inflamation, and stifness of the joint and the
spine.

- It is actually a common name for about 100


types of joint diseases
2. Osteoarthritis

- Is a joint diseases that mostly effects the


cartilage

- It occurs when the cartilage breaksdown,


causing pain , swelling and problems
moving the joint.

-It may result of being overweight , which


puts additional pressure on hips and knees
What is the difference between
Arthritis and Osteoarthritis?

● Arthritis is a disease in which the


immune system attacks the joints,
beginning with the lining of joints.

● Osteoarthritis, the most common form


of arthritis, involves the wearing away
of the cartilage that caps the bones in
your joints.
Spine Curvature Disorders
1. Lordosis

- also called swayback,


- is a condition in which the spine
curves significantly inwards at
the lowerback
2. Kyphosis

- Is a condition that is characterized by an


abnormally rounded upperback

- More than 50 degrees of curvature


3. Scoliosis

- the spine bends abnormally, either


to right of left side.

- A person with a scoliosis has a


sideway curves to their spine.

- The curves is often S-shaped o C-


shaped.
GROUP ACTVITY:

Group yourself into three (3). Each group will


make a dance showing the proper posture while
standing, sitting, and wakling.
Criteria for judging:
Over all performance- 40%

creativity and choreography- 30%

teamwork- 30%
