STATEMENTS
• Statements are sentences that are true or false. For example: The trains are
always late/ The trains were always late
QUESTIONS
• a question is a type of sentence that we ask or write to gain more
information. For example: What are you doing?/How did you feel
yesterday?
Yes no questions: Are you estdying now? Yes/no
Wh questions: Where do you live?/ Why did not you do the washing up?
REQUESTS
•  we ask someone for something, or to do something. Can you tell me the
truth?/ Could I ask you the time please?
ORDERS
• It is a sinonim of requests. But an order supplys a special quantity of
goods
OFFERS
• An offer is what you can provide. For example: Sandra offered you to buy
a car yesterday
SUGGESTIONS
• A suggestion is a proposed idea. For example: I suggested going to the
cinema/ Could you suggest something?
BACKSHIFTING
• when a verb tense is shifted back to a past form in reported speech
