Punjabi culture

Punjabi culture grew out of the settlements along the five rivers
which served as an important route to the Near East as early as the
ancient indus valley civilization, dating back to 3000 BCE.
Traditions

One of our town’s time –honored traditions is to have an


Easter egg hunt the week before Easter.It is their tradition
to give thanks before they start eating. There’s an office
tradition of wearing casual clothes on Fridays.
Punjabi Food
What is the punjabi famous food?
Common once are chana masala, nan, chole kulche,aloo paratha,
halwa poori, bhatoora, flooda ,makhni doodh, amritsari lassi,
masala chai, tea, dahi vada, dahi, koa, aloo paratha with butter,
panjeeri with milk.
Folk dances of punjab
Punjabi dances are an array of folk and religious dances of the
punjabi people indigenous to the punjab region, straddling the
border of india and Pakistan. The style of punjabi dances ranges
from very high energy to slow and reserved, and there are specific
styles for men and women.
Art
 Art is the expression of ideas and emotions through a Physical
medium, like painting , sculpture, film, dance, writing,
photography,or theatre. If you love the creative process, maybe
you’ll devote your life to art.
Punjabi sports
Punjabis play a wide variety of sports and games, ranging from
modern games such as Hockey and cricket, to the traditional games
such as kabaddi, kushtian and khuddo khoondi .There are over 100
traditional games and sports of punjab.
Punjabi music
 Folk music of the punjab is the traditional music of Punjab produced
using traditional musical instruments like Tumba, Algoza, Dhadd,
Sarangi, Chimta and more. There is a wide range of folk songs for
every occasion from birth to death including marriage, festival, fairs
and religious ceremonies.
Punjabi festivals
Punjab is a state of numerous festivals, big and small. Some of the
main festivals in the state are Lohri, Baisakhi, Hola Mohalla,
Gurupurab and Teeyan.
Punjabi languages
Punjabi language , Punjabi also spelled Panjabi, one of the most widely
spoken Indo-Aryan languages. The old British spelling “Panjabi” remains in
more common general usage than the academically precise “Panjabi.” In the
early 21st century there were about 30 million speakers of punjabi in india.
Punjabi sikh religion

Sikhism is classified as an Indian religion along with Buddhism,


Hinduism, and Jainism. The basis of Sikhism lies in the
teachings of Guru Nanak and his successors. Sikh ethics
emphasize the congruence between spiritual development and
everyday moral conduct.

Today, however,the majority religion of Punjab is sikhism, which


originated from the teaching of Nanak, the first sikh Guru.
Unique, colourful and extravagant, these are the attributes of the heartland of

indeed overwhelming. The delicious Punjabi food appeases your taste buds like
never before. Colourful fancy clothes and Bhangra attract you like nothing else.
When you visit Punjab, you can experience hospitable and heartwarming vibes.
Punjabis are known to be very helpful, welcoming and proud people. They
welcome everyone with open hearts (and of course a glass of Lassi and typical
Punjabi food). They celebrate their festivals with great zeal and zest, with great
food, music, dances and revelry. The beauty of Punjab is as magical as it becomes.
Punjabi Weddings
 Punjabis have an actual religious marriage ceremony, and the
Roka is the first step in the pre-wedding customs of the
Indian bride and groom. A few days before the wedding,
Mehendi artists are hired to paint elaborate patterns on the
hands of the bride and all the female members of her family
and friends.
Punjabi literature
The majority of the works of Sikh Gurus may be found in Punjabi literature,
along with some poetry. One of the earliest pieces of literature that have
ever been discovered is Guru Nanak’s writings, popularly known as the
Janamsakhis.

There are also specific yogic ideas like those of Gorakshanath and
Charpatnah that may be found. But poetry, Sufi music, and ghazals marked
the beginning of the main body of literature.
Punjabi dress
For comfort, women like to wear Punjabi outfits. The salwar kameez is a well-known one in India, and it is a
combination of a Kurta and a salwar with a straight cut. Patiala salwar is a loose, pleated trouser originally
worn by males before becoming popular among women.

Punjabi Ghagra
Punjabi ghagra is part of a four-piece ensemble originally from Punjab but also worn throughout Haryana and
regions of Himachal Pradesh. This clothing is often used during the Punjabi folk dance known as “Giddha,” in
which ladies spin around in hypnotic colors while singing traditional melodies.
