‘C’ SECTION
Introduction to plantation

 Plantation farming is the practice of clearing a large parcel of forest land and planting the desired
crops in huge numbers on the cleared land.
 The plantation system developed in the American South as British colonists arrived in what became
known as Virginia and divided the land into large areas suitable for farming.
 Adaptations are special features that allow a plant or animal to live in a particular place or habitat.
 These adaptations might make it very difficult for the plant to survive in a different place For example,
seaweed is a plant adapted for its underwater environment.
 Cacti are adapted for the desert environment. Some notable adaptations include the stem (which is
becomes woody in trees), leaves, and roots.
 The evolution of this three part anatomy sets up the basic framework for tree evolution.

Conclusion

 The beneficial effects of turmeric are traditionally achieved through dietary consumption, even at low
levels, over long periods of time.
 A precise understanding of effective dose, safety, and mechanism of action is required for the rational use of
turmeric in the treatment of human diseases.
 The activities of turmeric include antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, antioxidant,
antiseptic, cardioprotective, hepatoprotective, nephroprotective, radioprotective, and digestive activities.
 Phytochemical analysis of turmeric has revealed a large number of compounds, including curcumin, volatile
oil, and curcuminoids, which have been found to have potent pharmacological properties.
