SAFETY SYSTEM FOR ELDERLY WANDERING PERSON

OBJECTIVE
The motive of this paper is to built a device included with new technology and
features which is useful for the individuals who are suffering with dementia disease.
ABSTRACT

• In this paper, we are going to built a device to help the elders who are
suffering with Alzheimer and to overcome the Dementia.

• Internet of Things(IT) technology can be used to provides safety and

security to dementia effected people.

• This device can be manufactured with different features like tracking of

temperature, heart rate and the location of the individual.
INTRODUCTION
• Alzheimer’s is the important cause of dementia-decline in mental ability.
Alzheimer’s is a chronic neurological disorder that causes brain cells to
degenerate and die.

• The individuals who are suffering with dementia will have memory loss and
mental illness. So to overcome this and to help them to lead a good and safe life
we are introducing this device.

• With the proliferation of IOT, a device is being implemented which tracks the
location and monitors the health status of the person
EXISTING SYSTEM DIAGRAM
EXISTING SYSTEM
• This system provides safety of the elderly person suffering from dementia but
it has some bugs and its has less features.

• In the system it does not include mechanisms like motion detection such as
fall.

• This system does not send any alerting message about the individual’s
condition.

• This system does not track the location of the individual.

DRAWBACKS
• Not suitable for long distance usage.

• Does not obtain accurate readings of temperature or heart rate.

PROPOSED SYSTEM
• The proposed design will accommodate critical issues faced by dementia
affected elderly person within the recent past and helps them technologically
with compact equipment and new ideas.

• This system is based on the Internet of Things (IoT) technology which helps to
provide safety and security to dementia effected people.

• This method helps the dementia affected elders within the country to get over
their fear in regard to their safety and security.
BLOCK DIAGRAM
ARDUINO
• Arduino makes the application more interactive to the
nearby objects and its surroundings.
• All types of Arduino is a open source platform used
for building electronic project.
• It consists of both hardware circuit and software tool.
• Arduino IDE uses the specified version of c++.
• This software is used to write the code and upload into
physical board through the cable.
PULSE SENSOR
• Pulse sensor is used to record heart beat rate
per second.
• With each heart pulse the detector signal
varies.
• Above age of 50 the heartbeat range is from
85 to 145.
• Above age of 65 the heartbeat range is from
78 to 132.
TEMPERATURE SENSOR
• Temperature sensor measures the amount of
heat energy which is generated by any nearby
object which produces either analog or digital
output.
• The normal body temperature is generally
accepted as 98.5 Fahrenheit.
GPS MODULE
• GPS – Global positioning system.
• The GPS is a satellite-based navigation
system made up of a network of satellites
place into orbit by the US department of
defence.
• GPS works in any weather conditions,
anywhere in the world.
ADVANTAGES
• It records body temperature.
• Patient do not consult for Regular Check up.
• It sends alerting message along with GPS of the individual.
• We can read all these readings through an app connected with the device.
• There is no possibility for data mismatching.
SOFTWARE REQUIRED
Embedded C.
