CULTURAL HERITAGE
- Refers to cultural aspects like
heritage sites, monuments, churches,
folklore, traditional activities and
practices, language and others that
are considered vital to preserved for
the future generations.
CULTURAL HERITAGE
- It provides identity to a group of people,
gives them an automatic sense of unity
and belonging within a group, and allows
them to better understand previous
generations as well as the history of a
people’s origin.
CULTURAL HERITAGE
- Is often expressed as intangible, those
that cannot be touched or seen,
(traditional music, folklore, language etc.)
and tangible, those significant places that
advocate the country’s history and culture
(monuments, mosques, shrines, bridges,
churches, houses, etc.).
TWO TYPES OF CULTURAL HERITAGE
- Built heritage which is the most visible forms of
heritage such as townscapes, archaeological
remains
- They are the buildings, artifacts and visible forms of
heritage that are the historic, aesthetic,
architectural, and cultural significance which include
natural features within such areas of environmental
significance or scenic beauty such as sacred groves,
hills, water bodies, wooden areas, etc.
TWO TYPES OF CULTURAL HERITAGE
- Natural heritage which includes all
components of our surroundings
not created by man but with
cultural, aesthetic, spiritual, biotic,
or ecological value which can be of
direct usable value.
CULTURE
- Comprises the whole complex
of distinctive spiritual, material,
intellectual, and emotional
features that characterize a
society or social group
CULTURE
- It includes not only the arts and
letters, but also mode of life,
the fundamental rights of the
human being, value systems,
traditions and beliefs(UNESCO:1982)
