Dona Laura was feeding pigeons
When……………
 Don gonzalo sat nest to her on the bench
 Dons Laura and Don Gonzalo argue. A pinch
of snuff helps clear their heads and makes
peace between them. Don Gonzalo then takes
out a book of poems and reads them aloud.
Twenty years pass. He returns. And – each cired out to the other
could it be him ?
Heaven, is that it?”

 Dona Laura reads the poem from the book


without using glasses because she has
memorized the words by heart

 When the two find out that they both came


from the same town, Don Gonzalo brings up
villa Marciela where Laura laurente ( The
Silver Maiden) lived.
 Don Gonzalo and Dona Laura speak of the
tragic love story of Laura and her lover. Dona
Gonzalo claims his cousin was the lover and
Dona Laura claims that Laura was her
neighbor when in truth.......
 Dona Laura says that Laura was heart broken
when her lover left her.
 Don Gonzalo defends his "cousin" saying that
he dueled with a merchant and when he badly
wounded the merchant he ran away because he
was afraid of being caught.
 Dona Laura said that one day Laura went to
the beach, wrote her lovers name and when the
tide came in, it swept her away.
 After talking about the past, Dona Laura asked
Don Gonzalo if he would go again the next
morning.
 He said he would if it would be a sunny
morning. He also said he would bring the
crumbs for the pigeons.
 Visuals
 While Dona Laura calls for her maid Petra, Don
Gonzalo thinks if he should reveal himself. But
does not because of his appearance and says it
it better she remember the gallant horseman
who gave her flowers.
 When Don Gonzalo turn to Juanito, Dona
Laura thinks that it is better that he remember
her younger self who tossed him flowers as he
rode through the garden.
 Donna Laura (side).  Yes, it's him!
 Don Gonzalo (side).  It's her, and there's no
mistaking it.  (Donna Laura and Don Conzalo
waving goodbye.)
 Donna Laura.  "Could it be that it's him?"
 Don Gonzalo.  "Heaven, is that?"  (They smile
again as he disappears again into the window
and she into the rose garden below, and then
into the arms of their servants.)
