H
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1. Discuss planetary network on the aspect of climate change.

2. List activities that exemplify care for the environment.

3. Explain and illustrate personal contributions that can actually

solve the problem of climate change.

H
PLANETARY NETWORK
- refer to the connection and interrelations
among the various elements in the natural
environment, which envelope and affect the
earth and beyond the earth's surface. It also
covers the natural environment.
H
What do you think will happen if
people exploit and exhaust the
natural resources?
Major
Global Crisis
(1) Global Warming
(2) Climate Change
GLOBAL WARMING
- the rising of the global average
temperature of Earth’s surface due to
the thinning of the ozone layer in
Earth’s stratosphere.
H
Greenhouse gases include:
- nitrous oxide (N2 O)
- methane (CH4)
- sulfur hexafluoride (SF6)
- perfluorocarbons, and hydrofluorocarbons

H
Trivia
Ozone layer is deadly when it lowers to the
atmosphere but does not last long. It is consist
of O3 which ordinary oxygen has two O2.It
stayed up high the atmosphere where it is
formed.

H
CLIMATE CHANGE
- refers to the major changes in the
climate that last for long periods of time,
up to decades or more.
H
H
WEATHER
- the atmospheric condition involving hot
or cold, rainy, or dry, cloudy, or clear sky or
stormy or calm in a short period of time.

H
CLIMATE
- refers to the prevailing set of atmospheric conditions such
as temperature and humidity of a place within a span of time.
It is the large scale and long-term interaction of sunlight,
precipitation, fires, ocean waves, volcanic eruptions as well
as breathing of human.

H
El Niño
-happens when ocean surface is warmer-than-
average and moves eastward and settles tropical
eastern Pacific, which in return, resulting heavy
rain fall in the Northwestern parts of South
America.

H
La Niña
is the opposite in a way that Western Pacific
areasexperience warming-than-the averagesurface water,
leaving theeastern Pacific cooler-than-average with more
uphailing of cold water from the deep ocean.

H
Threatening Impacts of Climate Change
(By Sociologist Charles Harper)

● Reduction of agricultural yield and grain productivity,

which lead to food shortage.

● Rise of sea level, which will endanger the population

living in the coastal areas, will submerge rice farms in the
river deltas, and will push high tides and storm surges
further inland.
● Decrease in fresh water supply cause by reduce

steam flow and water sanity which will make an

upstream movement.

● Increase in human health risk post by heat stress as

well as wider and faster spread of tropical illness.
● Consistent warming patterns that cause an increase in
energy consumption for air conditioning, hydro power
shortage, and diminished revenues for fisheries and
tourism.
● Enormous cost of prevention, rehabilitation, and
adoption to climate change, which can take a heavy
toll on the global economy.
PRODUCTION CONSUMPTION
PATTERN PATTERN

H
PRODUCTION PATTERN

- refer to how the people

generate and manufactured the
products they need
to use, sell, or consume.

H
CONSUMPTION PATTERN

- all about
on how we use economic
and consumer goods
and resources.
H
the more consumption
+
the more demand
=
the more production
H
the more production
+
the more extraction of natural resources
without replenishment
=
the faster degradation and exhaustion of the
resources.

the more demand
+
the more costumer demand
=
the more production
H
the more production
+
the more used of coal or petroleum being most
abundant and cheapest
=
the more greenhouse gas emission, the worse the
global warming will be.

H
CARBON FOOTPRINT

- it is the measurement of total amount of

carbon dioxide and methane emission of
a defined population or activity interest.

H
CARBON FOOTPRINT

H
CARBON ACCOUNTING

- it refers to the calculation of the

harmful effects of greenhouse gases
emissions.

H
As a student, what are the ways
that you think can
be help in reducing carbon dioxide
or carbon
footprint?
H
CARBON OFFSETTING
- options that can be used in reducing
carbon footprint through wind and solar
energy. Also, the 3Rs method; Reduce,
Reuse, Recycle.
H
CARBON HANDPRINT

- activities of individuals that can help on

eliminating the threats to have a safe and
positive environment.

H
The government issue three schemes
initiated to reduce carbon emission one of it
is carbon offsetting,
the other two are;

H
 Kyoto protocol specifically legally binding target
and time frame for reducing or stopping the
greenhouse emission of the industrialized
countries that ratified the protocol.

H
 The emissions certificate guarantees a
products resource efficiency, which can
helping increasing sales, decreasing cost,
and boasting brand loyalty.
