What is power
Power sharing can be done
sharing and between social groups,political
why we need it parties and different organs of
government

We need power sharing to


understand who may negatively
impact from a decision and help
the smaller communities and take
a note of their demands

different organs of
government, such as
judiciary excutive and
legislature

This is called horizontal


divison of power.

In this system if any


organ misuse there power
the other 2 organ can
object and overturn it.

Different Types Of This arrangement is


called a system of checks

Power can be shared among governments at different levels

• for the entire country and


governments at the provincial or
regional level

• This is vertical division of power

• Such a general government for the


entire country is usually called
federal government.

• This is what they did in Belgium,


but was refused in Sri Lanka.

social group

• Usually such as the religious and


linguistic group

• Like the ‘Community


government’ in Belgium.

• Like reserving seats for sc,st,sebc


and women in parliament and
various government jobs

• This method is used to give


minority communities a fair share
in power.
