The Abel Prize

• The award was created in 2001.


• Named after the Norwegian Mathematician Niels Henrik
Abel.
• Awarded by the King of Norway every year to one or
more mathematician.
• The Norwegian Academy of Science declares the
winner in March each year.

SHANTI SWARUP BHATNAGAR PRIZE
FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
• The highest award for science and technology in India.
• Awarded annually by the Council of Scientific and Industrial
Research (CSIR).
• The award is named after the founder Director of the Council of
Scientific and Industrial Research, Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar. It
was first awarded in 1958.
• Any citizen of India engaged in research in any field of science
and technology up to the age of 45 years is eligible for the Prize.
• The Prize comprises a citation, a plaque, and a cash award of Rs
5,00,000.
