“KEEPING THAT FIRE
BURNING IN YOU”
Leviticus 6:8-13(NKJV)
Why was the fire in the altar burn
continuously?
The fire represented God’s presence – God is a
consuming fire.

“For the LORD your God is a consuming fire,

a jealous God”
Deuteronomy 4:24 (ESV)

On the day that the tabernacle was set up,

the cloud covered the tabernacle, the tent
of the testimony. And at evening it was over
the tabernacle like the appearance of fire
until morning. So it was always: the cloud
covered it by day and the appearance of fire
by night.
Numbers 9:15–16 (ESV)
Why was the fire in the altar burn
continuously?
The ongoing fire started directly by
God and is a constant reminder of His
power.

“And fire came out from before

the LORD and consumed the burnt
offering and the pieces of fat on
the altar, and when all the people
saw it, they shouted and fell on
their faces”
Leviticus 9:24 (ESV)
The burnt offering is for God’s Chosen
People
It is coming from God’s chosen people.
No other source of fire was acceptable to
God

“Now Nadab and Abihu, the sons of

Aaron, each took his censer and put
fire in it and laid incense on it and
offered unauthorized fire before the
LORD, which he had not commanded
them. And fire came out from before
the LORD and consumed them, and
they died before the LORD.
Leviticus 10:1–2 (ESV)
Why keep the fire burning in us?
• Because it is a manifestation that God lives in us. His presence is
evident in our lives

• God’s receiving us is His burning us. When we are burned by

God, we should be happy because this burning means that God is
receiving us

• Signifying That God’s Desire to accept what Is offered to Him

Never Ceases
The Holy Spirit as the symbol of Fire
• Jesus Christ baptized us with the Holy Spirit and Fire
John answered them all, saying, “I baptize you with water, but He
who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am
not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and
fire.” – Luke 3:16 (ESV)

• The Holy Spirit comes in the form of “tongues of fire” at Pentecost

“And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on
each one of them” – Acts 2:3 (ESV)
THE FIRE TRIANGLE
Holy Spirit – The Air We Breathe
• The Holy Spirit is the air we breathe – our oxygen. It is the lifeblood; without Him
there would be no reaction, without him there would be no growth. The Holy
Spirit is in you.

..Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you,
whom you have from God? You are not your own..
1 Corinthians 6:19 (ESV)
• It is the Spirit that keeps to do good things
.. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast
what is good. Abstain from every form of evil..
1 Thessalonians 5:19-22 (ESV)
Prayer – our heat source
• Prayer is the heat source of our Faith through Christ. It is our
heartbeat.
• In the Acts of the Apostles, they are devoted to prayer day by day, by
praying individually and praying together.
..All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer....
Acts 1:14–15 (ESV)
• Praying people were the fuel and the heat source for setting the fire for
Jesus.
They said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us while he
talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?”
Luke 24:32 (ESV)
The Church – The fuel that set us in motion
• The Church. Our energy source. People who are serving and worshipping.
The people are the wood on the fire. As it grows, the fire grows.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer
your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true
and proper worship.
Romans 12:1 (ESV)

..You yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to
be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through
Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 2:5 (ESV)
How to keep the fire burning in you?
