Eurostar high-speed train

- Eurostar is a high-speed train connecting Great Britain to mainland
Europe.
- The Eurostar travels via the Channel Tunnel and brings you from
London to Paris, Brussels or Amsterdam in just a few hours.
Eurostar routes:
- Eurostar operate almost hourly
departures with regular direct
routes to and from central
London to the heart of Paris,
Amsterdam.
- Eurostar routes:
London – Paris
London - Brussels
London - Amsterdam
London - Lilleerdam and Brussels.
Launch of service:

- On 14 November 1994, Eurostar services began running from


London Waterloo International station in London, to Paris Gare du
Nord in Paris, and Brussels-South railway station in Brussels. The
full daily service started from 28 May 1995.
- In 1995, Eurostar was achieving an average end-to-end speed of
171.5 km/h from London to Paris.
Operational performance:
- In 2006, the Department for Transport predicted that, by 2037,
annual cross-channel passenger numbers would probably reach 16
million.
- In 2007 Eurostar set a target of carrying 10 million passengers by
2010.
- Passengers in general, are becoming increasingly aware of the
environmental effects of air travel, and Eurostar services emit
much less carbon dioxide.

Awards and accolades:

- Eurostar won the Train Operator of the Year award Awards for 2005 year.
- In 2006, Eurostar's Environment Group was set up, with the aim of
making changes in the Eurostar services' daily running to decrease
negative environmental impact.
- Eurostar's target was to reduce emissions by 35 percent per passenger
journey by 2012, putting itself beyond the efforts of other railway
companies in this field and thereby winning the 2007
