Text
Types
Narrative Text
Entertains, instructs, or informs readers
by telling a story. Narrative texts deal with
imaginary or real-world and can be
fictional (fairy tales, novels, science
fiction, horror or adventure stories, fables,
myths, legends, etc.) and non-fictional.
Descriptive Text
It explains what a person, place, or thing is
like, often providing a visual experience through
the use of adjectives and adverbs. It endeavors to
engage all five of the reader’s senses to evoke
the sights, sounds, smells, tastes and feels of the
text’s subject.
Instructional Text
It is a piece of non-fiction text that gives
instructions on how to complete a task. Also
called an instructional text or an instructive text.
The text may include organizational devices
such as bullet points or numbers, diagrams, and
pictures.
