COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course provides a perspective and understanding of the key
components of Entrepreneurship a fascinating practical and academic
area of study. The aims of this courses are to explore both the complexity
of entrepreneurial theory and practice applied to the tourism and
hospitality industry. To move back and forth between strategy and
operations to illustrate the linkage between the two areas and explain
how both perspectives are necessary for entrepreneurial success and to
engender a sense of enthusiasm about the field by not only discussing
some of the major challenges and opportunities but by providing the
knowledge and skills required to start a small business and drastically
improve the chances of sustaining it successfully.
COURSE OUTCOMES

At the end of this course students are expected to:

1. • Identify the contribution of small firms and entrepreneurism to the


service and hospitality sectors of economies.
2. Provide students with a means of
developing knowledge and skills to enable
them to make an informed decision to
proceed and develop their own ventures, or
alternatively, to be more intrapreneurial
within existing corporation.
3. To provide an overview of
entrepreneurship and to encourage
further reflection about the range of
factors which impact upon it.

COURSE POLICIES
1. All students are expected to attend the classes
REGULARLY AND PUNCTUALLY.
2. They should COME PREPARED in class. This
includes preparation for the assignment, readings,
quizzes, and other classroom activities.
3. They should PARTICIPATE ACTIVELY in class.
4. ALWAYS WEAR PROPER UNIFORM during
synchronous session.

5. Requirements should be submitted on/or before the set
deadline. Otherwise, there will be corresponding
DEDUCTION OF 1 POINT for every day late from the
date of submission. Projects submitted beyond 3 DAYS
(excluding Sunday) from the deadline will no longer be
entertained unless if it is for a valid reason to be
determined by the instructor.

6. HONESTY AND INTEGRITY should be observed in
ALL academic undertakings. 
7. PLAGIARISM (representing other author’s ideas as
one’s own) and CHEATING WILL NOT BE
TOLERATED.
8. ALWAYS MUTE AUDIO when joining & during
synchronous sessions. Unless instructed to unmute.
9. ALWAYS TURN OFF VIDEO upon entry to virtual
class until INSTRUCTED TO TURN ON.

10. FAMILIARIZE yourselves on the Icons and features of
MICROSOFT 365 AND MS TEAMS.
11. ALWAYS NOTIFY your teacher when difficulty/ies or
emergency/ies arise.
12. ALWAYS ADHERE to your teachers scheduled
CONSULTATION HOURS and WORKING HOURS.
13. Use the RAISE HAND function in MS Teams if you
have questions or clarification to make during
synchronous sessions.
14. NO EATING or MUNCHING during synchronous
sessions.
