TRANSFERRING
FOWLER’S POSITION

is a standard position where the patient is


seated in a semi-upright position at an angle
between 30 and 90 degrees, with legs either
bent or straight.
SUPINE POSITION

used in surgical procedures, it grants


access to the peritoneal, thoracic and
pericardial regions; as well as the head,
neck and extremities.
PRONE POSITION
is a body position in which the person
lies flat with the chest down and the
back up. In anatomical terms of location,
the dorsal side is up, and the ventral
side is down
DORSAL RECUMBENT

It is employed in the application of


obstetrical forceps, repair of lesions
following parturition, vaginal examination,
and bimanual palpation
LITHOTOMY POSITION

is a common position for surgical


procedures and medical examinations
involving the pelvis and lower abdomen
SIDE LYING/ LATERAL
POSITION
Indicated for back surgeries, lower extremity
surgeries, thoracic surgeries, Ear Nose
Throat (ENT) surgeries, and kidney
surgeries.
SIM’S POSITION

is usually used for rectal examination,


treatments, enemas, and examining
women for vaginal wall prolapse.
ORTHOPNEIC POSITION

This position is used for patients with


breathing difficulties.

is often used for spine surgery

POSITION
most commonly used during lower
abdominal surgeries and central venous
catheter placement
TRENDELENBURG POSITION

is similar to Knee-Chest or Kneeling


positions and is often used for colorectal
surgeries
